David Fedorovyč Ojstrach , UCR. Давид Федорович Ойстрах ( Odessa, September 30 1908 - Amsterdam , 24 October 1974) was a Ukrainian violinist, one of the greatest performers and violinists of the twentieth century.
has deeply influenced the technique of the instrument for his mastery of technique, his astonishing naturalness, his unparalleled virtuosity.
Among the most famous violinists of the twentieth century, his vast repertoire ranges from Bach to Shostakovich, who dedicated two violin concertos. He played with major orchestras in the world directed by the greatest conductors as Gennady Rozhdestvensky, and performed alongside artists such as Yehudi Menuhin, Mstislav Rostropovich, Sviatoslav Richter.
He had a son, Ihor Ojstrach, himself a violinist.
were dedicated to him the concerto for violin and orchestra Aram Khachaturian and two concertos for violin and orchestra by Dmitri Shostakovich.
His recording of Beethoven's Triple Concerto, with Mstislav Rostropovich and Sviatoslav Richter is perhaps the brightest jewel of his complete discography.
