Gidon Kremer



Gidon Kremer (Riga, 27 February 1947) is a Latvian violinist and conductor.

Born in Latvia to parents of German origin, Jews, began studying violin with his father and grandfather (both professional violinists) to 4 years and then continued at the Conservatory in Riga, then to study with David Oistrakh at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory Moscow. In 1967 he won third prize at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition of Belgium in Brussels, in 1969 the first prize at the Paganini Competition in Genoa and in 1970 the first prize in the Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow.

Kremer's first concert in the West takes place in 1975, in Germany, followed by participation at the Salzburg Festival in 1976 and a tour in New York in 1977. In 1981, Kremer creates a festival of chamber music in Lockenhaus, Austria, based on a non-conventional programming of works, from 1992, the festival is known as Kremerata Musica. In 1996, Kremer founded the Kremerata Baltica chamber orchestra, composed of young musicians from Baltic countries. He serves as artistic director of the festival Art Projekt 92 of Monaco and the summer festival in Gstaad (Switzerland).

David Oistrakh Fritz Kreisler



Fritz Kreisler (Vienna, February 2, 1875 - New York, January 29, 1962) was an Austrian composer and violinist.

Fritz (Friedrich) Kreisler was born in Vienna into a Jewish family. He studied first in his city, completing his studies in Paris, under the guidance of, among others, by Léo Delibes, and Jules Massenet. After being rejected at an audition for the Vienna Philharmonic, he left music for medicine and painting. He returned triumphantly to the violin in a concert with the Berlin Philharmonic in 1899, and came to success in America during subsequent tour from 1901 to 1903.

In America again before the end of World War I, which had taken part in the ranks of the Austrian army to leave early to injury. In 1924 he returned to Europe, living first in Berlin and, since 1938, in Paris, before returning to the USA in 1943, where requested and was granted citizenship as a result of racial persecution.

In 1962 he died in New York.

Among the most famous violinists of the twentieth century, his vast repertoire ranges from Bach to Shostakovich, who dedicated two violin concertos. He played with major orchestras in the world directed by the greatest conductors as Gennady Rozhdestvensky, and performed alongside artists such as Yehudi Menuhin, Mstislav Rostropovich, Sviatoslav Richter.
He had a son, Ihor Ojstrach, himself a violinist.

His recording of Beethoven's Triple Concerto, with Mstislav Rostropovich and Sviatoslav Richter is perhaps the brightest jewel of his complete discography.
